Roscoe L. Powers, 94, passed away December 2, 2018. He was the father of Richard Powers.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Powers and Myrtice Ernestine Hambrick Powers. Mr. Powers was retired from Ryan’s Family Steakhouse where he served as the corporate pilot and Director of real estate. He was a U.S. ArmyWorld War II Veteran. Mr. Powers was an active Shriner and a pilot for the Flying Nobles. He formerly served as Commissioner of the Greenville Downtown Airport Commission.
Mr. Powers was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Mullikin Powers. Mr. Powers is survived by three children, Richard Powers (Mary), Lee M. Powers, and Debra Powers; two grandchildren, Phillip Powers and Mary Catherine Leonard; six sisters, Thelma Butler, Ruth Hilton, Martha Powers, Mary Gravley, Becky Melton, and Bobbi Beck; and a brother, Carol Powers. He was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Clark and Ellen Trotter; and two brothers, Frank Powers and Alonzo Powers.
Graveside services were held December 8, 2018 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
