Johnny Edward Nix, 74, passed away on December 14, 2018. Born in Columbia, SC on March 25, 1944, he was a son of the late Julius Edward Nix and Hilda Raines. Johnny graduated from Brooklyn Cayce High School where he played football. He also attended USC and was a lifelong Gamecock fan.

Johnny married Marjorie Nettles on April 6, 1967 and they raised 4 children together of whom he was extremely proud: Mark (Alicia) of Columbia, Missy Pusey (Eric) of Tega Cay, Stephen (Julie) of Leesburg, VA, and Susan Shirley of Columbia. He also had 9 grandchildren whom he loved very much: Katharine, Garrett, Olivia, and Molly Nix, Sarah Pusey, Ansley and James Nix, and Abigail and Emma Shirley.
Johnny spent many years in service to others. He enjoyed coaching his children’s’ little league teams, served as President of the PTO at Cardinal Newman High School, spent many years running book fairs at St. Joseph Catholic School, and was known to many as the “Turkey Man” for his years of cooking and carving turkeys at Thanksgiving for those in need. Johnny was also a proud charter member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served as Grand Knight for Chapter 12554, District Deputy, and was named Knight of the Year in 2001.
