Getting Involved: The First Step to a Successful Membership

HBA Committee Involvement Opens the Door to Many Opportunities

One of the many benefits of being a member of your local HBA is the opportunity to work with other members' through committee's. HBA committee's work with the Board of Directors to bring new ideas and programs to their association as a means of adding benefit to the membership. The following is a list of defined committees including the 2008 Chairperson. If you are interested in signing up for one or more, please email Dana Jones at

  • Golf Tournament - Assists with planning and coordination of the annual golf tournament held in May. The annual tournament has been one of the largest fundraising events for the Home Builders Association raising thousands of dollars for PAC. Chairman - Buddy DeLozier (Builder)

  • Community Service - Coordinates community projects for charities and non-profit organizations. Members work together serving people of Greenville County with projects such as the Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum Chairman - Wayne Moore (Builder)

  • Education/Programs - Develops and promotes programs that educate builders, suppliers and the general public on topics related to the home building industry. These programs are designed to enhance the professionalism of the industry. Chairman - Rick Quinn (Builder)

  • Legislative/Developers - Informs HBA members of local and state issues that affect the home building industry. Committee members coordinate HBA members to be active and involved in the local community by attending city and county council meetings, filling vacancies on policy bodies such as planning commissions, supporting planned growth, and keeping abreast of local politics. Chairman - Scott Lynch (Builder)

  • Membership Committee - Assists in the development of member retention programs and initiatives to recruit new members and is involved with the selection of topics and speakers for general membership meetings. Chairman - Tom Ward (Associate)

  • Tour of New Homes - Assists with planning and coordination of the Tour of New Homes. Chairman - Vacant

  • Public Relations Committee - Develops and promotes programs to keep the HBA membership informed on their association. The committee implements new programs, updates communications for the membership and consumer and works closely with the Board of Directors to keep your association current with new trends in the Home Building Industry. Chairman - Jerry Fay (Builder)

  • Remodelers Council - Implements educational opportunities specifically for the remodeling industry. Chairman - Lou Hutchings (Associate)

  • Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) - Dedicated to new home sales and marketing expertise in the home building industry. The council provides methods of education in the form of training seminars, workshops, motivational programs and educational materials. Membership into the local SMC also includes membership into the National Association. The council is lead by a board of directors. Chairman - Bill Durrell (Associate)

  • Parade of Homes - Assists in planning and the coordination of the Parade of Homes. Gale Crawford (Builder)

  • Southern Home and Garden Show - Assists in planning and organization of programs, show rules and regulations coordinating volunteers. Chairman - Bruce Pasquarella (Builder)
