Community Service
Members of the Home Builders Association of Greenville take part in numerous projects throughout the year that help make the Greenville community a better place to live and work. From construction to cash contributions, HBA members donate time, talent and funds to ongoing and special programs in the community.
Tree Sapling Project
A signature event of the association's Community Service Committee, the Tree Sapling Project is an annual event held in early December during which HBA of Greenville members distribute 1,500 tree saplings at five elementary schools in Greenville County. Members also distribute educational coloring books entitled 'Building Homes Of Our Own', which explain the homebuilding process and the importance of serving the housing needs of a community in an environmentally sensitive way.
Meals On Wheels of Greenville County
Every Tuesday and Thursday, HBA of Greenville members run regular routes for Meals on Wheels, delivering hot meals to the elderly and homebound in Greenville County.
Paris Mountain State Park Bath House Renovation
HBA Remodelers have contributed to several local construction and renovation projects in recent years including renovation of the old bathhouse at Paris Mountain State Park into a new Park Center. HBA of Greenville members also built new office space at Miracle Hill Ministries and the picnic shelter at Shoeless Joe Jackson Park in West Greenville.
Pendleton Place Children's Shelter
Local homebuilders each year provide backpacks and back to school supplies for the children of Pendleton Place. The association also has sponsored special activities for Pendleton Place including Back To School Night at GattiTown and tickets to baseball games.
Habitat For Humanity of Greenville County
In 2006, eight builder members of the Home Builders Association of Greenville participated in Home Builders Blitz, a national program during which more than 500 new homes were built across the country. In Greenville, eight Habitat for Humanity homes went up in just five days in West Greenville. Builder members also make ongoing contributions of excess building products and materials to the Habitat Home Store on Rutherford Road.
