Awards

The Home Builders Association of Greenville recognizes excellence in craftsmanship, service to the industry, commitment to the community, and member recruitment and retention, with a variety of awards:

HBA Builder of the Year
Sponsored by BB&T bank and awarded during the association's year-end celebration in December, the HBA Builder of the Year award recognizes an HBA member who makes a commitment of time and talent through committee and program participation that helps strengthen the association for all its members. This builder represents the highest level of integrity and honesty in the home building industry. Nominations for HBA Builder of the Year are submitted by the general membership, with final selection made by the HBA Board of Directors.

HBA Associate of the Year
Each year, the Home Builders Association of Greenville recognizes an Associate Member who has made a significant contribution to the local home building industry during the year through volunteerism, member recruitment, and sponsorships. Nominations for HBA Associate of the Year are submitted by the general membership, with final selection made by the HBA Board of Directors.

Distinguished Service Award
The HBA of Greenville Distinguished Service Award recognizes a public official who has shown ongoing support for the residential construction industry, through legislative efforts that prevent undue regulation being placed on the building and development community, and that help keep housing affordable in the Greenville area and across the state of South Carolina. Nominations for this award are submitted, and voted on, by the HBA Board of Directors.

Spirit of the HBA Award
The Spirit of the HBA Award recognizes an individual who has made a distinctive contribution to ongoing development of the Home Builders Association of Greenville through committee involvement, member recruitment and retention, and introduction of initiatives that add value to HBA membership. Nominations for this award are submitted, and voted on, by the HBA Board of Directors.

President's Choice Award
As the name suggests, this award is given at the discretion of the current President of the HBA of Greenville. The recipient of the President's Choice Award demonstrates an extraordinary level of dedication to the HBA of Greenville and the overall building and development communities.

Tour of New Homes Awards
Each year, the Home Builders Association of Greenville recognizes excellence in new home construction with the Best of the Tour of New Homes Awards. Awards acknowledge Best Elevation (Curb Appeal), Best Floor Plan, Best Landscaping, Best Outdoor Living, Best Garage, Best Kitchen, Best Interior Merchandising, Best Master Bath, and Best Sales Center in five price categories: $90,000-$150,000; $151,000-$200,000; $201,000-$250,000; $251,000-$400,000; and $601,000 and higher.

HBA of South Carolina Pinnacle Awards
The Pinnacle Awards are given by the Home Builders Association of South Carolina for outstanding craftsmanship in the construction of quality homes. Awards are presented in eight categories - by market price, including the lot - starting under $200,000 and spanning to more than $5 million. The Pinnacle Awards dinner is held in January of each year, with entries due in October.

The National Association of Home Builders Spike Club
Recruiting new members for local associations is an activity recognized and rewarded through the National Association of Home Builders Spike Club Program. Those who participate are called "Spikes;" they are among the most valued members of the association. Member-to-member recruitment and retention efforts are highly valued because of the grassroots growth and stability they bring to the association. Members earn one "Spike" credit for each new member sponsored. When that member renews after his or her first year of membership, the sponsoring member automatically gets one retention credit. Every year the member renews thereafter, the sponsoring member will receive a 1/2 renewal credit. Spike recognition awards range from certificates, lapel pins, and plaques, to watches and apparel.
